How to Overcome Homeschool Winter Blues

The chilly months of winter have well and truly arrived, bringing with them long nights, lazy days, and a certain gloomy air. When all one wants to do is sleep the hours away in a cozy blanket, winter blues can truly take their toll on a person. But never fear, because homeschool panda is here to brighten up your moods with a handy set of tips to beat the gloom (and the cold)!

Get out of the PJs

Yes, warm sweatshirts and pajamas can be comfortable on a cold day, but they can make you lazy since these clothes are for sleep. Separate the day from the night and get dressed, even if you are not going somewhere! Changing into proper clothes can make you more productive and make you feel a lot fresher!

Add a little color to your indoors

If the cold makes it hard to go out, worry not, just bring the outdoors inside! The smell and vibrant colors of fresh flowers and house plants can add a little touch of spring in the middle of winters and brighten up your mood in an instant!

And they look pretty too!

Get moving

As hard as it may seem, you need to get yourself and your kids out of bed and exercise. If possible, go out for a walk and spend a while outside with your family, getting the fresh air. If going out isn’t an option, then try out a workout routine inside your house with your kids, there are a lot of such videos online.

Exercise can improve your mood drastically, and can also reduce stress, help you sleep better and most of all, warm up your body. What more does one need to get rid of winter blues?

Play some board games

Being cooped up in your home all day can become a little (read: very) boring. Use this free time to bring out your favorite board games to play with your family. In addition to being entertaining and good way to bond with one another, board can refine the critical skills of your kid at early ages.

Change up your schedule

Shuffling up your curriculum at the beginning of next month can be a good solution to tackle the otherwise boring and monotonous schedule. It can help get your kids excited for the new term when the energy levels are at an all-time low.

Maybe add a little extra curriculars, such as painting or music to your daily schedules, incorporating such activities can be a great way to get rid of the winter blues.

Make some treats

Chilly winters are the perfect time to get in the kitchen and bake some warm goodies together. Your kids will love decorating the various baked items like cookies or cupcakes. Cooking together can be a great way spend time and bond together. And the best part is, afterwards you and your family can sit down and enjoy these warm treats together (Tip: Put up a good holiday movie to watch while you all munch together)
